Beyond the university walls are the many faces of the CSTW Outreach program. Among them: Columbus grade school children and volunteer tutors from Ohio State who meet weekly to read and write; K-12 schoolteachers who devote a Saturday to learning a new teaching technology; high school students who spend an intense workshop week honing their critical thinking and writing skills; and adult learners seeking self-improvement and educational advancement. The CSTW reach is wide.

The Ohio State University defines "outreach and engagement" as a meaningful and mutually beneficial collaboration with partners in the community. At the Center for the Study and Teaching of Writing, The Outreach Program focuses on writing and literacy. We understand that people write throughout their lifetimes and in a variety of settings. Being a skilled writer can help anyone achieve their goals and participate more fully in public life.
